Two hours in a day of sun
summer when the sun is shining, there are two times of the day that I prefer.
The time from 14 to 15: the hour of siesta, the hottest of the day. I'd like to sit outside and "pale afternoon engrossed in a hot wall of garden" in the words of Montale. In that time there is silence, everyone is immersed into a stupor after lunch, you feel just the workings of nature all around. The sun beats down and you can almost hear the grass grow and stretch to that heat. The few animals are moving around lazily. You can see everything as if I were one with the world outside of your body numb from the heat.
And then time goes from 19 to 20. That time to relax before dinner, when you finally finish your daily tasks, and you can enjoy a little 'rest. Empty your mind, walk down the street, is no longer as hot as before, if you're lucky, gets a little ' the evening breeze. Slowly empty the city, all come home, the sun is low down. It is still night, no light and you can enjoy the last rays reassuring. Feel the nature is at rest, its sounds are turned off slowly. "It is now evening," he said as another poet, Quasimodo.
