During the study post-synodal apostolic exhortation "Verbum Domini," Msgr. Julio Cabrera, bishop of Jalapa, presented the recent publication of the Bible translated into K'iche, the most popular of the 22 Mayan languages \u200b\u200bprevailing in the country.
Bible translation in K'iche is the result of 23 years of work by a group led by French priest Bernardo and Isabel Sucuquí Guos, the Mayan language, originally from Chico, El Quiché.
Bishop Cabrera explained that the work of digitization of the document began last year in Bilbao, Spain, and then continued in China for the press, from where comes this Bible to be delivered to the people of Guatemala.
For its part, Guos father explained that the translation of the Scriptures has been made by the English, but from the original language, through a process of constant review by K'iche catechists, to reach the final text of a modern Bible, which lets you read the text without the help of other languages.
Isabel Sucuquí expressed his joy for this version that honors all martyrs, the K'iche people, and everyone involved in the translation. It also recognized the valuable contribution of the catechists of the different Catholic parishes west of the country.
The translation of the Bible in K'iche marks a historic moment for the Church of Guatemala, which now offers the Book of Genesis in their own language in many catechists, to rescue their lives had to bury their Bibles and other texts of Christian formation, when the Church suffered a bloody persecution.
